🌟 Project Spotlight: Cenovus Energy Hub – Lloydminster, Saskatchewan

Vanguard Specialty Products is proud to highlight another successful collaboration — the completion of roller shades and custom drapery for the new Cenovus Energy Hub in Lloydminster, SK. This state-of-the-art facility is set to become a landmark destination for sports, entertainment, and community life in the region.

A New Era for Lloydminster

The Cenovus Energy Hub replaces the aging Centennial Civic Centre, ushering in a modern, multi-use complex designed to meet the growing needs of the Lloydminster community. The $101-million project features two NHL-sized ice rinks, including a 2,500-seat main arena, along with an auxiliary rink, shared concession areas, media and corporate suites, and spacious concourses. Beyond sports, the Hub will host concerts, tradeshows, cultural events, and community programs year-round.

Located within Lloydminster’s developing Entertainment District, the facility is envisioned as the anchor for a vibrant new civic corridor that will include walking trails, green spaces, and outdoor amenities. Its design emphasizes accessibility, sustainability, and inclusivity, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can enjoy everything from recreational skating to major regional tournaments and entertainment events.

Vanguard’s Contribution

Within this impressive facility, Vanguard Specialty Products delivered and installed a complete package of roller shades and drapery systems. Our work enhances the interior environment by providing precise control of natural light, reducing glare, and improving comfort and privacy throughout key areas of the building — including lobbies, spectator zones, and administrative spaces.

Each solution was designed to blend seamlessly with the project’s architectural and interior design goals. Our installation teams coordinated closely with PCL Construction, the project’s general contractor, to ensure all shading systems were delivered on time and integrated efficiently alongside other trades.

The Project Team and Timeline

Construction of the Cenovus Energy Hub has been led by PCL Construction, one of Canada’s most experienced builders of large-scale public facilities. The project received significant financial support from all levels of government and from Cenovus Energy, whose $5-million naming sponsorship underscores their commitment to community investment.

The facility is scheduled to officially open in October 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter for sports and recreation in Lloydminster.
